You are in control is a love letter I have written to myself. It is a reassurance and reminder of my responsibility over my life. I have to imagine a day where my life is mine and I stand up straight on the tall mountain and breathe the nourishing air and I don’t rethink what I have already diligently decided on. This diptych is a manifestation of control. Through creating a personal tarot to shape my future, I accept this infinite loop of pain as a scarification that I have inflicted on my heart. This work explores the idea that reality is relative and that taking responsibility for my decisions means I will walk myself to the top of the mountain.

Trust your gut is a love letter to humans. It is a critique of the way we ignore what we know is the direct result of our actions. We know the storm is coming but we still act surprised when it arrives and destroys our livelihood.This analogy is of the experience we can all reckon with, of human greed and waste. The diptych is how I take this experience outside of the temporal limits of our language and into a visualisation of the gut feeling. The taurus, the cycle of all energy is embedded in the painting as the skeleton that holds up the storm cloud. We must take responsibility and listen to our instincts.
